Hi guys, this is Shengqi, also many of you will be familiar with my English Name (Jack). I’m a second-year Business and Management student from China, passionate about empowering students to thrive academically and professionally. As a Course Representative and Student Co-Chair at Durham, I’ve worked to amplify student voices and bridge gaps between peers and faculty. Beyond academics, I’ve founded TransformHarvest Consultancy to foster collaboration, and organized high-impact networking events with global leaders. Fitness, chess, and volunteering keep me grounded.
If elected, what sort of Officer can students expect you be?
A connector and advocate focused on your career growth and community-building.
I’ll host monthly Industry Forums, inviting professionals from finance, consulting, and tech to share insights and opportunities. Drawing from my experience negotiating partnerships (e.g., with Coca-Cola, lululemon, Blackrock, Houses of Parliament), I’ll try to share exclusive opportunities which might open many doors for your future . I want to be your collaborator, not a boring leader: I’ll try to launch digital feedback channels and open-door hours to ensure ‘your’ needs drive my priorities. Let’s turn ideas into action—together.
Why is this role important to you?
I believe every student deserves access to networks that unlock their potential. As an international student, I’ve faced challenges navigating career paths and building connections. My goal is to ensure no one feels overlooked. If elected, I’ll prioritize:
- Career Bridges: Partner with firms to create mentorship programs and internship pipelines.
- Global Networks: Leverage my international experience to connect students with alumni and industry leaders worldwide.
- Peer Support: Establish a “Buddy System” for international students and stress-management workshops.
Leadership, to me, means lifting others up—your success is my purpose.
