Description

Durham University's Mature Students' Association

Are you over 21 starting undergrad, over 25 starting postgrad, or just can't quite relate to most students around you due to your age or life experience? Then you belong here!

Whether you're in your 20s or pushing 50, we're here for students who aren't part of the typical uni demographic. Mature students come in all shapes and sizes. Some are wise old owls, others have no idea how we even got here. Some love wine and sophisticated books, others game into the night. What we have in common? We've all complained about being "old" one too many times.

No matter your preferences or lifestyle, we'll help you find your place in a university environment that sometimes feels geared toward the fresh-out-of-high-school crowd.

Get involved: We host regular meetups like pub quizzes, badminton, and study sessions. Follow our socials and join our WhatsApp community to chat, suggest activities, ask questions, and bond with people who have relatable life experiences. Or just lurk and enjoy the memes.

Connect with us: We try to build community online as well as offline, because we know life gets busy and we can't always make it to every event in person.

  • WhatsApp: DM or email us to be added

And of course, remember to sign up via the SU for membership and email updates.

Meet the team: Your exec committee for the year 2025/26 is A (President), Joe (Secretary), and Michaela (Treasurer). You can trust us to always have your backs, even when our backs hurt (literally). Find out more about us through our socials or reach out directly on WhatsApp. We're here to help, so don't hesitate to ask!
