SU Officer elections: roles, dates, nominations and support

Get paid to lead an area of the SU. You'll support activities, address issues, and bring student ideas to life - ensuring everyone can hear your voices loudly and clearly.

Roles

Winter Elections role descriptions:

The second round of elections are the Spring Elections, taking place around April-May 2025. Find out more about Officer roles, ask a question or express an interest in the Spring Election roles using this form.

Roles are:

  • PGR Officer (part time)
  • Welfare Officer (part time)
  • Student Trustees

Wages and hours

Full-time Officer

  • Salary: £23,623 minimum (currently under review)
  • Hours: 35 hours per week

Part-time Officer

  • Wage: £12.60 per hour (this is in line with the Living Wage Foundation)
  • Hours: 7 hours per week with some flexibility

Key Dates

Spring Elections

Likely to be throughout April and May but is subject to change.

19 May: Nominations open.

6 June: Nominations close.

11 June: Candidate training.

16 June: Candidates announced and voting opens

18 June: Welfare event

20 June: Voting closes and results announced.

Election Process

  1. Nominate yourself by midnight on 6 June.
  2. Attend the first candidate campaigns workshop on 11 June, 14:30-16:00, Dunelm House where you’ll learn about election rules, how to campaign and have photos taken for social media content.
  3. Voting will be open 16-20 June. This is your time to campaign!

  • We know that elections can be stressful, so SU staff members will be available to provide support throughout the elections process.

  • Further details on candidate support will be communicated during campaigns workshops.
