“I will offer a listening ear to all students, especially international students, to ensure their voices are heard and their concerns addressed. I will prioritise inclusivity, actively engaging with students from diverse backgrounds and fostering a supportive environment where everyone feels valued and respected.”
“I will be a Liberation Officer who centres marginalised voices and pushes the university to recognise our importance to the Durham community. I want to be an approachable officer who students feel they can trust to secure change.”
“I believe university is not only for studying, but where everyone has chance to make change in the local society. I have a great passion in everything about sustainability, for example, polices related to the energy crisis and climate change. I'm keen to do as much as I can to help the university and the local community become more environmentally friendly.”
“I am passionate about ensuring that PGR students' voices are heard, and their rights are respected. Moreover, as a member of PGR, I hope to improve our study experiences at Durham University by advocating for better resources, support systems, and academic guidance.”
“University can be a difficult transition of lifestyle. Students may find themselves distanced from their usual support network. I hope to see transparent support for welfare volunteers and all students. This can lead to a change in how students are able to look after themselves and each other, taking advantage of the support tools available to them.”
“My priority will be to create platforms that amplify student voices and ensure their feedback directly influences decision-making processes and development initiatives.”
“I will tackle the lack of clear marking and assessment criteria to make our system more transparent and our academic experience better. I'll be an officer who listens and acts, making sure everyone’s input is valued and impactful.”
“By being easily accessible, people will feel listened to and more willing to engage with their departments to improve the student experience. I will work with department directors to set up more open forum discussions between them and the students.”
“I would love to see a greater emphasis on promoting the various routes a social science student could take post-study. I will ensure that every decision made, and meeting attended would be dictated by the voice of the students.”
