College prize

We are in full swing of our Student Officer elections, and it's time to turn up the heat with the college competition! This year, the college with the highest voter turnout wins an unforgettable prize—your choice of furry friends for a cuddle session or an adrenaline rush with a giant inflatable (think drop slides, zorb football, or even human whack-a-mole!) Your vote decides the fun—make it count!

Every Durham student is a member of the Students’ Union. Your voice matters. Make sure it’s heard. Vote now here: www.durhamsu.com/vote

Be sure to #VoiceYourChoice for the candidate you think will be best for each position.

Your vote will determine who leads Durham's campaign on affordable housing, amplifies student representatives' voices across departments, and fosters a sense of belonging for all students. This is your chance to shape the decisions on issues that matter to you.

You can find out more about each of the candidates by visiting their candidate profiles. Learn more about this year’s new Officer roles here, and how each Student Officer will represent you during your time at Durham.

Voting will close on Thursday 27 February at 17:00. The results will be announced on Friday 28 February on social media and at durhamsu.com (provided all complaints are resolved). If you’re having trouble voting, please make sure you are logging in using your name.name@durham.ac.uk account. If you are still having issues, please email su.elections@durham.ac.uk, and we will look into this for you. Please do so in good time of voting closing so that we can sort them out in time for you to vote.

Terms and Conditions

The competition is open to all Durham University Colleges as listed here: https://www.durham.ac.uk/colleges-and-student-experience/colleges/

The winner will be the college whose percentage voter turnout is highest at 17:00 on 27 February 2025 in the Durham SU 2025 Winter elections. Voter turnout statistics on the voting dashboard will be used to calculate the result. Reasonable efforts will be made to reallocate turnout of listed halls to their associated college (e.g. Cranmer Hal’s turnout will be combined with St John’s College).

  • The judge’s decision is final.
  • No cash alternative is available.
  • The Common Room from the winning College will be notified via email to arrange the prize.
  • The winning College will be offered the choice of a visit from a petting zoo, or zorb football as prize. Should there be any issue with sourcing or arranging these prizes, an alternative shall be offered.
  • The prize must be claimed by 1 June 2025.
  • Reasonable efforts will be made to contact the winner. If the winner cannot be contacted, we reserve the right to offer the prize to the College with the next highest voter turnout.
  • We reserve the right to withdraw the competition at any time.
  • We reserve the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time.
