The future of the UK is being decided now, and it's crucial for every voice to be heard, especially students. As a student, your vote can shape the future of education, housing, healthcare, and many other issues that directly impact your life.
Follow these steps to get ready to vote:
1. Check your registration status
Have you recently registered to vote? Be sure to check your voter registration status to avoid any surprises on the day.
2. Research candidates and issues
Get informed! Research the parties and candidates you can vote for on 4 July, focusing on the key issues affecting students. Each party has released a manifesto, but you can also use tools such as the NUS Vote Matcher to find which party policies most align with your priorities.
3. Plan your voting day
Polling stations are open from 07:00 to 22:00, but you can check specific opening times at wheredoivote.co.uk. Make sure to give yourself plenty of time!
4. Remember your ID!
To vote, you will need a photographic ID (your student ID won't count!). Whether this is a CitizenCard, passport, or driving license, you can check online to see what will and won't be accepted.
5. Make your voice count
Be sure to turn up and vote on the issues that matter to you. Students have the power to shape the vote, so don't miss your opportunity to use your voice. Be sure to encourage friends and family to do the same!
Take action today. Pledge to turn up on 4 July and make your voice count!
