As I mentioned in my last update, I know that Covid-19 has had a huge impact upon the everyday lives of Durham students. One area which has been the centre of national conversation is housing, and I understand that many of you who have signed private Tenancy Agreements until the end of the 2019-20 academic year will have questions about your rights as a tenant, future rent payments and your belongings.
That's why, by collaborating with local agents and landlords, Durham SU has produced the Student-Landlord pledge with the hope that we can get through this global crisis together. I believe that by acting collectively, we have the power to protect the interests of student renters and ensure that nobody is exploited as a result of these difficult circumstances.
Whilst I hope that the expectations outlined in the pledge are supported and respected by all, remember that our Advice Service is available to offer free, confidential and impartial advice to any student who has questions or concerns. You can contact the service using the details below.
We're here to help. Whatever your question, big or small, the Advice Service is here for you through Covid-19.
