With exams now over, there’s finally time to get involved in the wide range of events going on in Durham, and make the most of being in this beautiful city in the summer. Summer in the City Festival – 1 to 30 June
Celebrating the best of the city’s music, theatre and art, the Summer in the City Festival brings together a programme of events from Durham University, Durham County Council and regional artists. Highlights include The Tempest in the Gala theatre and the #VisibleWomen art exhibition.

Community Fun Day – Saturday 22 June
Showcasing some of the regular activities and events hosted by Durham University, the Community Fun Day will give you the opportunity to try, or watch, live music, theatre, sports and dance. There will also be stalls and interactive displays.

Durham BID: Independents in Durham Week – 1 to 7 July
Celebrate shopping locally and support independent businesses across Durham city with a week of discounts in Durham.
Durham Brass Festival – 12 to 21 July
Enjoy ten days of music, including international street bands from Spain and Germany, at venues across Durham. During the final weekend, the streets of Durham will be overtaken with performers on every corner.

Durham Miners' Gala – Saturday 13 July
An integral part of the city’s history, Durham Miners’ Gala celebrates the area’s mining heritage with a procession of colliery bands, banners, speeches, and a service in the Cathedral. There will also be food and drink, and a fun fair.
