The General Election on 4 July represents an opportunity for students to make their voice heard, to tell our politicians what you want and to make sure they deliver it.
We know what is at stake for students in this election. There is a cost of living crisis and a housing crisis. The number of students experiencing mental health difficulties is at an all-time high. Higher education itself is on the verge of collapse. You experience these issues and their symptoms every day. We dedicate our time and energy organising to combat these ills and lots of that organising is directed towards these moments when the power to make a difference is up for grabs.
By voting you will influence who gets that power and who makes that change. Your vote must be earned before it is given. No party is entitled to your support. Do your research. Think about what matters most to you and who – if anyone - will offer you that. Above all else, TURN UP.
If you haven’t already, you have until 18 June to register to vote to ensure your voice is heard. If you’re unsure of your eligibility and how or where to vote, then visit our webpage here for further details. If you'd like to have regular updates and receive all the information you need to participate in the general election you can join the NUS ‘Pledge to Turn Up’' campaign alongside other students across the country. Your voice will only be heard if you turn up at the polls, make the pledge to turn up on 4 July and make your vote count.
